Our Coastal Sailing Club Membership gives you unique opportunities:
- Practice sailing on a regular basis and improve upon your skills
- Meet new people that you can sail with
- Get out on the water independently or part of a team
- Introduce friends an family to the sport
We have Delphia 24 sport keelboats, which are 8m technical race boats. These boats allow for plenty of deck space and storage area for cruises or fishing trips. Before heading out, we do advise that you have least RYA Sailing Level 2. We also ask that you are familiar with the boats, including the safety equipment, parking and dealing with any emergency situation that might arise.
As well as keelboats, members are encouraged to take part in yacht sailing and racing onboard our two Beneteau’s, ‘Run’ (35ft) and ‘No Excuses’ (36.7ft). We have regular opportunities to sail these yachts and you will gain valuable knowledge from our experienced instructors. Again, we suggest that you have a minimum qualification of RYA Competent Crew before undertaking any yacht sailing activity.
Coastal Sailing Club Clinics:
Instructor Led Training : Saturdays 16:00-18:00 (Adult), Sundays 16:00-18:00 (Youth) (May till Oct)
During the Instructor led training, we will coach you through spinnaker work, racing, and other useful skills. However, we aren’t always task masters – we also realise that sometimes its nice to just go for a cruise along the coast in company! On no wind days we will also introduce you to other activities such as powerboating.
Yacht Racing: Wednesday 18:30-21:00 (June&July), Sundays 07:30-13:00 (Easter till October)
For the yacht racing sessions we aim to compete against the other boats at BMYC (Brighton Marina Yacht Club). Fun, safety and training our crew will be a priority. Our race skippers are very competitive, so expect some close quartered and exciting sailing!
The Clinics
They will take place on our yachts* and keelboats. These clinics are tailored around the weather but even if it is too windy to go out sailing, there is plenty of theory or parking practice in the marina that the instructor can teach, to further your sailing knowledge. You will need to book onto these sessions in advance, please arrive at least 15 minutes early to sign in and prepare yourselves and the boats.
*Yachts are subject to weather conditions. Crew requirements are RYA Competent Crew and those aged 16+
