On Tuesday 30th Lagoon Watersports hosted the BWSW Kids wake Jamboree, a fun & relaxed wakeboard competition aimed at getting new riders into the competition format. A massive thanks to BWSW who made the event possible with a grant to support it.
Participants were divided into either Bronze, Silver, Gold or Junior open categories depending on their ability as defined by the BWSW courses. The weather was perfect and we kicked of the day with some practise to settle the nerves and work on some last minute tricks. 14 out of the 20 riders had never competed before which was an excellent turnout! With 11 kids in the Bronze group the judging was tight, we saw a mixture of beginner surface tricks, ollies and 180’s but mostly looking for confident controlled riding up and around the corners.
Everyone did exceptionally well and our top 5 riders were:
1st Billy Albu
2nd Kasara Nasiry
3rd Zac Jefferiss
4th Max Lovell-Leach
5th Rory Donovan
With a lack of silver and Gold riders we grouped them together in one category. Paris, Dom and Harvey showed some more advanced surface tricks and a few nice hits on the flatbox. Dom having only recently completed his Silver did really well against some more confident rail riders.
1st Paris Ryan
2nd Harvey Froehlich
3rd Dom Coleman
Our final group was the junior open, riders of varying ability but mostly members and regulars at Lagoon Watersports. The kids at the Lagoon have really been pushing each other this season and it shows in their riding. Lots of big hits on the new transfer rail, some steeeezy grabs off the kicker from Florence Haggis & Toby Rice and a near perfect run from one of our newer members Massi Mackenzie who tock the top spot. A massive congratulations and thanks to all who took part, be sure to get involved next time!
1st Massi Mackenzie
2nd Florence Haggis
3rd Toby Rice
Big thanks to BWSW, ION, Matt Crowhurst & Crow Pro for his support as usual.
