sailing-windsurfing-wakeboarding-SUP-sailing-brighton_36-small

The RYA Powerboat Level 2 course including ICC (International Certificate of Competence) offers a huge range of on water powerboating and shorebased skills necessary for owning or hiring a powerboat both in the UK or abroad.

The RYA Powerboat Level 2 training course covers high speed handling and  manoeuvring and essential information on safety and how to use basic equipment. We have two new RIBs that we use for the course called Sweet and Sour! They have Suzuki 90 HP engines which are ideal for this course. There may be possibilities to use our big RIBs depending on availability.

On the first morning we generally do manoeuvers in Brighton Marina, and in the afternoon high-speed manoeuvers and man-over board in the open water. We do a theory session, including a passage plan and pilotage to Shoreham-by-Sea. The second day involves high-speed navigation and finding the yellow racing buoys at sea. We head up the River Adur where the strong tides are great for practicing ferry-gliding and tying moorings. The day is finished off with a lap of honour to demonstrate all the skills you have learnt on your course.

Course Content Includes:

  • Launching & recovery
  • Confined space manoeuvering
  • Mooring
  • Man overboard procedure
  • Anchoring
  • Towing
  • Engine checks
  • High speed handling
  • Collision regulations
  • Buoyage
  • Basic chart work
  • Tides
  • Communication afloat
  • Emergency procedures

ICC (The International Certificate of Competence) – The International Certificate of Competence is issued in conformity with Resolution No. 40 of the Working Party on Inland Water Transport. The ICC is required by many European countries for the use of certain categories of pleasure boat. It is also useful in countries where compulsory certificates are required of nationals simply because officials expect to see such a certificate. You automatically qualify for your ICC on completion of the RYA powerboat level 1 and 2 course.
Course Objective: You will be a competent powerboater in the right conditions.

Managed to fit us in for a private windsurf lesson for my 3 kids at very late notice, they totally loved it, very friendly instructor and safe environment. Shame we don’t have time for wakeboarding tomorrow. Or SUP. Or Laser sailing…

I was bought a days sailing experience through Virgin Experiences and had a great day out on the water. All the staff at the centre were so helpful and friendly from the off set and the everything was planned really well. It was very hands on once on the boat and I learnt a lot throughout the day. Would highly recommend this for anyone looking to get into sailing!

I had a go at the wakeboarding on the zip wire. It was great fun, highly recommend. The girl running the class was very patient and knowledgeable and to my surprise I managed to get up. Exciting and fun will defiantly do again.

Pete L. has it down. Training wheels for water sports. I came out here on a LivingSocial Adventures and had a blast! Reasonable pricing scheme, really friendly (and attractive) staff.

Great for beginners, Hove Lagoon offers a safe and enjoyable way to get into windsurfing and sailing. Even if you don’t fancy these, you can take your radio controlled boats for a spin, or just go for a walk round the Lagoon to the beach. The centre also allows you to take equipment out to sea once you’ve become proficient.
