What is stand up paddleboarding

Really patient instructor and explained things really well and clearly. Absolutely brilliant fun, a must do

Monica

This venue is wonderful as there is a lagoon for initial instruction and practise but is beside the sea for the next stage.

Bingwray

Whether you just want to try Sailing, Stand Up Paddle boarding, Wake-boarding or Windsurfing, or you want to make the most of living by the sea, this is it! I cannot think of any other place where so many different types of people can enjoy themselves

Eri

I wanted to email as I had a 1:1 paddle board lesson today with Sian and she was amazing. I asked at the front desk who I should contact to pass this positive feedback to and was given your email address. Sian was patient, kind and a great teacher who supported and encouraged me to great effect. I thoroughly enjoyed my first experience paddle boarding and will certainly be back, despite being extremely nervous beforehand.

Independent water quality test results from 2017  testing

Total Colibacteria

Faecal Colibacteria

Faecal Enterococci

  • Natural algae growth occurs in the Lagoon. This algae can look unpleasant particularly when it blows to one corner of the Lagoon. It is harmless. It is NOT blue/green algae that fresh water lakes can suffer from.
  • Sometimes there is a smell. This smell is caused by the natural process of the algae.
  • Brighton and Hove City Council treat the water with an organic substance to help suppress the algae growth.
  • The water in the Lagoon is sea water rather than fresh water which prevents some common water quality issues that lakes suffer from.
  • The Lagoon is topped up with fresh seawater every few days.
  • The Lagoon is very shallow so the sun can penetrate to the bottom.
  • There is a high level of evaporation and leakage in the Lagoon.
  • The sea water that goes into the Lagoon meets all bathing test requirements.
