Exciting and fun will defiantly do again.” Ros Schaffa “Fantastic course to get you on the water and gaining confidence regardless of your experience. Thanks so much for another great experience.” Gillian Donaghy “A big thank you: First Class sailing instruction from Ash. Inherent risksWe have taken all reasonable steps to provide your child with the level of care and assurances of safety appropriate to the activities they will undertake. However, you should be aware that certain inherent risks remain which are integral to the activity and which cannot be eliminated without destroying their unique character. Such risks can lead to feelings of discomfort, fear and apprehension and in some very rare cases, injury. Parent briefingsThe kids courses which run during the school holidays start with a short parent briefing. Please take the time to attend this briefing as it will explain how the course works and other information we feel you should know. Lost property :We get a lot of lost property and it can be very difficult to identify items, particularly when wet. Please encourage your children to take everything home at the end of their session. Please name your children’s clothing If you leave something behind contact us as soon as possible, ideally the same day. Do you take photos of kids activitiesWe frequently take photos and videos of activity sessions involving both adults and under 16’s. These may be used in our brochures, social media and other promotional material. If you do not want photos taken of your child please let us know. How do I know my child is in a safe environment? We take the safety of all our customers very seriously and in particular children. All the staff are DBS checked, they are all qualified by the NGB of their sport so this will be the RYA, BWSW and BSUPA. Many of them are qualified with all of the above. To become an instructor they all have to have a current First Aid Certificate. Both the Brighton Marina and Hove Lagoon sites are inspected in regard to their equipment and also their operating procedures and have to reach very high standards. My daughter is a fussy eater, I am not sure what to do about lunch. We offer the option to include lunch so that parents and carers know that that is one less thing to worry about when leaving the house in the morning. You are welcome to send them with a packed lunch and then you know they have something they like. Alternatively you can order lunch on a day by day basis when you sign them in each morning, just check with the office or the cafe to see what the lunch for that day is. There will always be a vegetarian option. The other option is they just bring pocket money and buy something each day. My child is smaller than the average 8 year old, will they still be able to do everything?Although the age range for this week is 8-12 years of age we do teach all the activities to younger children on other courses. We have very small wetsuits, the smallest sails for windsurfing are tiny and if they are too small for wake boarding they will still join in and maybe use a ringo. They will be fully included. We start the activity week from age 8 not because of size but because it is a full on week and they will need to concentrate and keep going! We have found that to be the best age to start from. Will my child be in the same group as his friend? If children come with a friend they are welcome to spend the week together. We encourage everyone to make friends so that those who come on their own are able to make friends quickly. Many new friendships have been formed on activity weeks and the children have continued on the water as friends for many years after. We start each day with a land based game which is not only fun for all but works as a bit of a bonding exercise. If anyone is a little shy they won't be for long. Will my child receive a qualification at the end of the Kids Activity Week? They will be taught the basics of all the sports that they try but as they are trying so many activities they will not get to a level where they can be signed off in any particular one. If your child gets to the end of the week and is keen to continue with one particular sport we can speak to the instructor to decide what is the best course for them to continue. The Kids Activity Week is the perfect way for them to try everything and have fun. Are the staff qualified to be working with my child? All the staff are qualified by their governing body whether it be the RYA, BWSW or BSUPA and in most cases they have qualifications from all of the above. They all have current first aid certificates and are all DBS checked. The centre itself is also inspected annually to ensure we meet the highest standards. If you have any concerns at any time please do not hesitate to speak to us. What happens if the weather is not good?Although we have a plan for the week we do vary it where necessary to account for the weather. We will keep them entertained and having fun whatever the weather but will obviously keep in mind their safety. What does my child need to bring? They will need to bring with them swimwear, a towel, something warm to put on as they can get a little chilly after a long period in the water even if it is a hot day. Jacket if it looks as though it may rain as we still keep them busy what ever the weather. If you have not booked lunch then a packed lunch or some pocket money so they can buy lunch or some snacks. We do provide suncream but if they have a favourite they should bring that. If they have their own wetsuit and wet shoes they are welcome to bring those but please can they be labelled so that they do not get muddle in with everyone else at the end of the session. Changing BookingsPlease click here for our full booking terms and conditions and ensure that you understand our cancellation policy. Be aware rebooking fees are charged for cancellations made with less than 4 weeks notice. Our cancellation policy applies in all circumstances including no shows, illness, relocation, transport failure and bereavement. The reason for this is when you make a booking with us we assign staff and equipment to deliver the booking, we are therefore unable to offer that space to anyone else. We will have made commitments to staff for your booking and we may have turned away other bookings. Unfortunately we are unable to get insurance that covers us for this loss. We therefore do not offer refunds for cancellations as we are likely to incur costs. Course Cancelation Insurance You can take out insurance to cover the cost of your course against cancellation through CancelSure. Guide cost is £12 for the first £100 of cover and then £6 per additional £100 of cover and an excess of £25 per claim. Our Advice If you pay by credit card your cancellation maybe covered by your credit card provider. Consider taking out course cancellation insurance. Your holiday insurance may cover you for course when you stay on our boats. Kids and Parents Membership You are welcome to add your kids to your Beach Club membership. If they are of the required ability they can go on the sea (when conditions are suitable) provided we have written parental consent. Prices Prices for Kids memberships when not added to a existing membership Do the children need their own wetsuits and other equipment? No, all they need to bring on the day is their swimwear and towel. We will provide everything else for them but if they have their own they are very welcome to bring them. Please make sure if they do bring their own that it is labelled.
