Want to get on the sea, meet like minded people improve your skills. Then our clinics are perfect. Clinics are instructor led and coaching is available on them.

The table below is a guide to give you an idea how regularly clinics run.

IMPORTANT : Times will vary depending on the weather and other factors so please make sure you see the clinic times and dates at the links below. Extra clinics will be added at short notice based on the weather. Eg Extra windsurfing clinics if it looks windy, extra SUPing ones if calm.

Adults

As a rough guide if you are using the club about 20 times a year you get the best value by joining the club. Please remember  we give members the best prices, but we require a 1 year commitment.

Flexi Pass 12 or 20 Tokens is best value for low to medium levels users or those that do not want to commit to a full membership.

Windsurfing on the sea more than 15 hours a year and you will save money by joining Beach Club Pro

SUP more than 10 hours on the sea a year you will save money by joining Beach Club SUP

Wakeboard more than 25 times a year you will save money by joining  Beach Club Wake

We offer 5 memberships :

  • SUP - Offers SUP on lagoon and sea plus windsurfing on the Lagoon
  • WIND - As SUP but also includes all sea clinics for windsurfing. If you are not signed off for Sea Hire this is the windsurfing membership for you.
  • WAKE - Adds wakeboarding to WIND membership
  • PRO - Adds windsurfing hire on the sea to WAKE membership. (There is an option to to exclude wakeboarding from pro membership which is slightly cheaper.
  • KIDS - We offer a Kids Lagoon membership (SUP, windsurf sail and kayak) and a kids wakeboarding which adds wakeboarding.

The sea can be a challenging place. Our aim is for members to grow into confident and independent water people. 

The sea offers us a wonderful, varied, dynamic exciting playground for watersports. But it can be dangerous and unforgiving. It is better to go slowly, learn and be prepared. 

This is a journey. Enjoy it. 

Start with our instructor led clinics.

These will build your skills, experience , and introduce you to safety requirements. Some of these will run on the Lagoon so we can build your skills in readiness for the sea. We will go on the sea when ever we can.

Please ask the office or an instructor which clinic is most suitable for you. 

As you progress we are able to sign you off as ready for “Sea Hire” enabling you to hire on the sea. Experienced windsurfers and SUPers can skip the clinics if they are able to demonstrate suitable ability.

Once we are confident of your ability we can sign you off for “Sea Hire”. This means you can hire on the sea out side of clinic times. This also enables you to hire when the centre is closed (eg early morning SUP paddle) and take equipment off to other venues.

There is NO safety cover provided for your hire. You responsible for your own safety. Hence we require you to take additional sensible safety precautions.

We may put restrictions on the range of conditions that we will hire to you in and advise you attend further clinics to gain more experience.

Club members, that have not been signed off for Sae Hire may go on the sea as part of our instructor led clinics.

Hire for kids on the sea (All activities)

Under 18’s
: Sorry no hire on the sea. Except accompanied on the water by a parent that has suitable skills in that activity. This due to restrictions placed on us by our insurance company.

Kids may attend sea clinics and go on the sea under the supervision of an instructor. Please ask the office or a Duty manager to see if your child is ready for this.

Yes. To hire equipment you must have appropriate experience. To hire you must have complete the courses below or have equivillant experience. We offer beach Club members a 65% discount.

The best and quickest way to improve is with guidance and training from our instructors. Our instructor led clinics are FREE to Club Members. you can also join our course, many of which offer members a 65% discount.

Come to our instructor lead clinics. You will get free coaching and the chance to get active with like minded people.

Training courses

Take a course to improve your skills. Club members get discount 0f 65% on most adult courses at Hove Lagoon. A bit of extra coaching can really help you achieve your goals.

Practice

Sounds obvious but the more time you spend on the water the better you will get. You don't have to stick to one activity. Any time spent on the water will help all of your watersports improve.

Summer Season

April :

  • Wednesday – Friday (12 – 6pm)
  • Weekend (9am – 7pm)

May :

  • Monday – Friday (12 noon – 8pm or approx 1 hour before dark)
  • Weekend. (9am – 7pm)

June – end of August :

  • Monday – Friday (10am – 9pm or approx 1 hour before dark)
  • Weekend. (9am – 7pm)

September :

  • Monday – Friday (12am – 8pm or approx 1 hour before dark)
  • Weekend. (9am – 7pm)

October :

  • Monday – Sunday (12am – approx 1 hour before dark)
  • Weekend. (10am – 1 hour before dark)

Winter season

  • Closed - with occasional variable opening. Please contact us to check. We advise customers not to join the club just for winter opening

Please note in the winter the Lagoon can leak when it gets cold making it impossible to offer activities

Members signed off for sea hire may access equipment when we re closed

Please cancel any sessions you cannot attend. We restrict availability to ensure you have a good experience, to manage equipment and for safety reasons. Places are limited and may failing to cancel may be stopping other members attending.

THIS IS ESSENTIAL FOR WAKEBOARDING

FLEXI PASS USERS : CURRENTLY WHEN YOU CANCEL A SESSION IT IS NOT AUTOMATICALLY ADDED BACK ON TO FLEXI PASSES. We are working on improving that ! In the mean time please contact us and we can book any sessions you are owed

We have the following rules to enable everyone to share the cable availability. If  you cannot find a wakeboard session to book please contact us and we will help you find a space.

  1. Your membership entitles you to book up to 2 free wakeboard ride sessions per day except Sundays which is 1 session. (We reserve the right to change this at amy time. eg during the COVID-19 restrictions it will be one session per day)
  2. You may only book up to 4 wakeboard ride sessions in advance.(We reserve the right to change that at amy time. eg during COVID-19 restrictions it will be two sessions in advance)
  3. Additional slots can be booked at a cost of £10 per session online with the discount code "RIDE"
  4. If you cannot attend your session it is essential you cancel it so other members can wakeboard. Demand frequently exeeds availaibility. Cancellations must be done online. There will be no charge. If you do not show up for your session, the first time this happens we will turn a blind eye to it. After that you will not be able to use the cable until you pay £10 for the missed session.
  5. You must book your ride sessions online
  6. If you cannot find ride sessions to book please contact us and we can try and add additional sessions for you. We consider any member taking more than 40 ride sessions per season to be getting a great deal and will give priority to members riding less and are having difficulty in finding sessions.
  7. Hire boards cost an extra £5 unless you have included them in your membership. If you have included hire boards in your membership and you later purchase a board there will be no refund.
  8. There is no wakeboarding until 2pm on Sundays as the model boat club have the use of that part of the lagoon.
  9. Wakeboard cable systems can and do go wrong and break. In the event of a technical failure we will prioritise rebooking your sessions but there will be no refunds.

The best way to meet new friends is come to our instructor lead clinics. Run by friendly instructors and attended by like minded people.

Just book online from our web site and all the sessions your membership entitles you to will be free.

If you are booking courses your membership discount will be applied automatically.

If not please contact us and we can sort out for you.

During the season we send out a news letter about once a fortnight.

Please note weekends and week day evenings get booked up so we advise booking ahead.

Nothing! Everything is included. If you do wish to buy your own wetsuit or shoes there are local shops that offer a discount to members of Lagoon Beach Club. Let us know what you are looking to buy and we can advise where to go.

Changing membership

That is no problem. If you have learnt a new activity, want to add another adult or child we can amend your membership accordingly.

Cancelling Membership

Your membership will end after 12 months at which point you can decide if you wish to rejoin. All communication regarding membership administration must be sent to tigger@lagoonwatersports.co.uk.

By signing up you are committing to a years membership. There are no refunds once you have completed the 14day cooling off period.

If you are paying by monthly payments these should stop when your membership ends. We strongly advise you to check that the payments have stopped.

By choosing to pay by Standing Order you are accepting that you are liable for the payment of the full annual membership fee. It is not a monthly membership fee, it is a way to enable you to spread the cost of your membership over 12 months and you are liable for the full membership fee in all circumstances.

We will not refund a membership for any reason. eg job relocation, illness.

Illness or injury

In the event of illness or injury making it impossible for the customer to use the facilities, Lagoon Watersports will consider a membership holiday period until the customer is able to use the facilities again. we will also consider offering you a credit that can be used on any activities that we offer. We will also consider making this transferable.

Your membership includes 5 free guest passes.

Your guest must have the same previous watersports experiences other members to hire equipment except for kayaks on the Lagoon.

Lagoon Watersports operates by offering tuition to the public, groups and hire (membership) in multiple activities. Not one activity or element is big enough to sustain the centre on its own. The success of the centre is based on multiple activities balancing the three elements of tuition, groups and hire.

Our success is based on introducing new people to watersports and providing a route for them to practice and progress.

In practice this means members do not have sole use of the equipment or cables. There are times that you may not be able to gain access to the equipment or cable time you want as it is being used for another part of the operation. We know you want to get out on the water as much as possible and we provide as much availability of equipment, staff and wakeboarding time as possible. Please understand the facilities are for the use of a wide range of customers and not just Club Members. Sometimes it may not be possible for you to get your preferred session times.

Your membership period you pay for is for our "summer season" First weekend in April - October 31st. Any winter, November 1 - March 31, opening is a free bonus for members.

We are “soft open” weekends in November and December. We are usually closed for January, February and  March for members hire*.

Sea Hire and Takeaway hire is available to members that are signed off for it.

Please note when it gets cold in the winter the Lagoon can leak and it can be tricky to keep water in the Lagoon.

Every other year, in the winter, we drain the lagoon for cleaning. This usually takes minimum of 6 weeks.

*In the winter We reserve the right not to open : We may decide not to open if the weather is unsuitable. eg freezing cold or extreme gales. Also if there is no water in the Lagoon or staff sickness/holiday.

We advise you do not join if winter opening is really important to you unless you are signed off for Sea Hire

We can set up your account so you can make bookings for your family members and friends. Just ask us.

Currently there is one massive draw back. Due to technical issues you are only able to cancel sessions for the lead booking. We are working on a solution.

We have limited space to store members windsurf boards, SUP and wakeboards. Please ask us - there is often a waiting list.
