Sea Hire

Windsurf, Wing and SUP Hire on the sea from Hove Lagoon

Club members with suitable Windsurfing or Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) experience are able to hire equipment on the sea. There is also an option to enable you to take equipment to other venues.

Members MUST take FULL responsibility for themselves and the equipment. No safety cover is provided.

The advantages include:

• Windsurf, Wing or paddle on the sea out side of instructor led sea clinics
• Take Away Hire – Club Members may may take away Windsurf, Wing or paddle equipment to other venues

For safety reasons there are ability pre requirements, essential responsibilities and basic safety measures that you are required to take. You get more freedom. Lagoon Watersports takes no responsibility for your safety. You need to make sure you are ready for that.

Unsupervised  hire is open to all Club Members and Flexi that meet the pre requirements and have signed an additional disclaimer counter signed by a Duty Manager.

Take Away Hire is available to Club Members that meet the pre requirements have sign an additional disclaimer counter signed by a Duty Manager.

Pre requirements for unsupervised hire

Members must :

• A member of Lagoon Watersports
• Aged 18 or over
• Have valid personal accident insurance for watersports activities in place
• Book ALL hire session with Lagoon Watersports. PRE BOOKING IS ESSENYIAL
• Check the weather, tides and sea state are suitable for my ability
• Inform someone (ouside of Lagoon Waterspotrs) I am going out and expected time of return
• Log my hire on the RYA SafeTrx App
• Wear suitable clothing
• Not go out in off shore winds
• Go on the water with a buddy
• Take a phone and means of attracting attention on the water
• Wear a bouyancy aid and and a leash
• We highly recommend wearing a wetsuit
• Have been assessed and signed off by Lagoon Watersports to have met the ability and experience

SUP

• • • ability and experience laid out in the Ready for the Sea course
    • have attended at least one SUP club session
    • have at least 10 hours SUP experience time.

Windsurf

• • • Have been assessed and signed off by Lagoon Watersports to have met the ability and experience laid out in the RYA Intermediate Non Planing Course (restricted to hire in up to aprrox 14 knots, slight sea)

or

• • • Ability of RYA Intermediate Planing, plus waterstarting (deemed experienced enough to make my own choice on whether the conditions are suitable to windsurf.)
