Brighton and Hove Autumn SUP Race: Number 6 Harvey Dawkins2018-02-09T11:51:25+00:00 The penultimate race! Conditions were perfect for a distance race, not a breath of wind and glassy flat water. The course was roughly 5km, up to the meeting place cafe, run up the beach, collect a band, then back down to the lagoon for the finish. This week we had two newcomers Hollie and Ken. Unfortunately Ken was too eager to get going and tried launching without his fin, which didn’t give him the quickest of starts, once the fin was sorted it didn’t take him too long to catch up mid fleet….watch out for Ken he’s fast! Hollie also did really well and gave some of the guys a run for their money! It was a great spectacle as the race flew along the coastline, Mark and Robin battled it both directions, first position kept changing but it wasn’t until a bold move from Robin paddling over the top of a groyne which gave him the lead. Dan, leader of the round nose fleet, was keeping up with some of the race boards and Graeme not far behind. Next week is the last race of the series, who knows what conditions are installed, think we have seen most, bring on the finale!
