Name: Gary Perkins

Age: 50

Name: Billy Stewart

Age: 55

Having know each other for 25 years, both Billy and Gary are in their second year as members of Lagoon Watersports, very much enjoying their new found love of Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP), they are regularly getting out on the coast, pushing each other to improve their skills and taking on new challenges, as Gary says “I think as you get older you look for a form of water sports that gives you a buzz, but without feeling the need to prove anything or half kill yourself, SUP makes you feel really energised and good.”

SUP is often touted as the fastest growing watersport in the UK, its versatility appealing to a wide variety of ages and abilities. The health and fitness benefits very much talked about, SUP can offer you an  effective all over body workout and a perfect way to destress, Billy has enjoyed some of these benefits

“I find it an excellent activity which gives me the opportunity to continue participating in water sports whilst limiting the impact on my body. Since joining I have lost 22lbs in weight. This was an unexpected but welcome benefit.”

So why the Lagoon?

So why the Lagoon?

Obviously you can SUP anywhere, but Lagoon Watersports offers a great way to learn and progress at a watersports, by joining the yearly SUP membership you get access to high end equipment, expert tuition from friendly instructors, weekly SUP club sessions to continue learning with a like minded group of people, Gary agrees

“The best thing about the lagoon is the staff and other members. Nothing is too much trouble. They have some very good kit which is free to use anytime as a member and excellent teaching staff on hand to show you the best way to use it.” Billy backs that up “Friendly staff, excellent location and facilities. Club fees are very good value. Great way of meeting new people. The Lagoon and its staff/members have given me the means to continue with a physical activity which I have a great passion for but did not know it existed 14 months ago and for that I thank them all.”

Any final words:

Gary “If you are looking to meet like minded people in a friendly environment, look no further than hove lagoon. The yearly membership is excellent value for money if you use it frequently and is an excellent way to get fit. What are you waiting for?”

Billy “It is conveniently located next to the shore with the added benefit of a sheltered lagoon which can be used during period of extreme weather, something for everyone.”
