Wakeboard Cable Number 3! Harvey Dawkins2018-02-09T11:51:26+00:00 Lagoon Watersports are excited to confirm that they are installing their 3rd Wakeboard Cable this year with the financial help of the British Water Ski and Wakeboard (BWSW). Over the winter Lagoon Wake Park has been transformed to cater for all levels of rider. The new cable is dedicated for beginners and is ideal for introducing people of all ages to the exciting sport of wakeboarding. There have been further improvements to the existing cables to benefit the more advanced riders. The 3rd cable is currently being installed and will be up and running by Saturday 11th May. Rachel Tallon from the British Water Ski & Wakeboard said “We are delighted to support the growth of Cable Wakeboarding in Hove. The location is fantastic for raising the profile of the sport. The expansion of the facilities will see more people being introduced to this fun and exciting sport. BWSW look forward to working with Lagoon Wake Park to grow even further” This is a great move by the company who will now be able to help even more children and adults gain access to wakeboarding. They have recently been granted funding by Active Sussex’s Sportivate Scheme, which is supported by the National Lottery, to run a teenage wakeboard and women’s only wakeboard course. Sportivate is part of the Olympic legacy scheme. Sportivate’s aim is to promote sports by providing funding to help cover the costs associated with taking up a new sport. The aim of this is to encourage new people to get active and take part in something new and different with the hope of them taking up the sport regularly. Lauren Meredith took part in the Teen Wakeboard Sportivate Course last year and said “It was so much fun, it was a really good workout and something fun to focus on. I learnt how to do the basics, then some cool tricks. I continued to wakeboard in the girls wakeboard club held every week at the Lagoon. The staff and instructors were really friendly and motivational” Over the forthcoming summer Lagoon Watersports will be offering numerous wakeboarding courses to adults and children, all run by friendly qualified and knowledgeable BWSW instructors.
