The staff are nice and the water was clean. I would really recommend this to anyone who doesn’t mind getting wet, because you will get wet! Even if you have not done it before it is easy to learn. The most enjoyable bit is being on the water at fast speed and not falling off! Ellis Wardle Wakeboarding was really good fun and Hove Lagoon was a good location. Edward Ward The cable wakeboarding is brilliant. Fun and quick to learn. Challenging as well though, especially going round corners. There is also a ramp – I’ll try this when I have had more practise. Great value – if you like snowboarding or surfing you will love it! James Chambers On my first go, I got up on my feet and I was wakeboarding! Billy Mathur Frequently Asked Questions What makes Hove Lagoon so special for learning? Hove Lagoon is an old Victorian boating lake so has a solid bottom and is only waist deep. This means that any time you need to you can stand up. It is also right next to the sea so on those hot sunny days when there is little wind we can usually expect a sea breeze. Being next to the sea when people are ready we can move their learning away from the lagoon and on to the sea itself. The lagoon is in the middle of a public park so not only do you have the beach near by but you also have a kids play area and a skate park so anyone not taking part will have something to do. There is also an onsite licensed cafe for spectators and participants. Do you do wakeboarding behind a boat?No we do not as it is not often that the sea is flat enough. We have 3 System 2.0 cables in shallow and sheltered waters of Hove Lagoon. As it is a 2.0 system it means only one person at a time rides and if they come off the handle comes straight back to them so there is no waiting in the water. For beginners it is perfect as you can hear the instructions, are able to stand up if need be and do not have the challenge of waves. There are also various features in the water like the step up or box to keep advanced riders amused. All the wakeboarding sessions are full Please contact us and we will find a way to get you riding. Please note weekends and week day evenings get booked up so we advise booking ahead. What do we do with our bags when we are on the water? We have lockers that are free to use or if your bag does not fit in the locker we will look after it for you. Please do not bring massive suitcases as space is a little limited. What do I need to bring? All you need to bring on the day is swimwear and a towel. We will provide a wetsuit, impact vest, helmet and wakeboard (no additional charge). If you have any of the above you are welcome to bring them. The towel is for showering afterwards. I don't have a wetsuit, is this a problem? We have wetsuits in all shapes and sizes to suit everyone. You are very welcome to borrow one of these (no additional charge). What if the weather is not great? It is very rare that we have to cancel due to bad weather. For the person riding rain is not an issue as they will be getting wet anyway and for the people watching we have a cafe which looks out over the cables so they will be able to see everything. We also have hot showers for afterwards. What if I am not a very good swimmer? The lagoon is only waist deep so you are always able to stand up. If you cannot swim at all or are not comfortable in water let us know so that we are aware, you will be fine! How long is the session and how much of it is on the water? The Wakeboard Taster session is one hour and there will normally be one other person on the session so that you can alternate, watching each other and learning from what they do whilst you rest before going back on the cable again. Apart from the first few minutes where you are taught how to put the board on and the hand signals it is all on the water and yes you will be going along. If you are already able to ride and on a ride session it is also one hour but there will be 4 of you taking it in turns to ride.
