Windsurfing at Hove Lagoon, Brighton Harvey Dawkins2018-02-09T11:51:28+00:00 Hove Lagoon is an awesome place to windsurf. An idea location for every level of windsurfer, there is a suitable spot for everyone. If you’re a beginner there is the Lagoon, which is an enclosed shallow area of water that is idea for learning to windsurf and practice your new skills. For improvers there is the Lagoon that is perfect for practising your tacks and gybes as well as beachstarting and harness work. Just over the promenade is the sea, which is only a stones throw away and can be perfect for improvers in the right conditions. Intermediate and Advanced sailors can choose to get out on the sea, offering some of the best windsurfing along the south coast. This summer has probably been the most windiest I have seen in my 5 years of working at Hove Lagoon, providing us with some epic conditions to windsurf in. Down there is an awesome crew of sailors so you’re never alone on the water and pretty awesome to watch if you’re a spectator! Down at the Lagoon there is a variety of Windsurf courses for all levels and abilities including Taster sessions, RYA Learn to Windsurf, Windsurfing non planning and also a Windsurfing planning course taught by no other than top coach and windsurfing guru Sam Ross. If you are looking to improve your Windsurfing, every week there are two windsurfing coaching clinics – Improvers windsurf club is held on Thursdays 18.00-20.00 and is aimed for those that have just learnt to windsurf and are looking to practice the skills they have already and learn some new one’s. Windsurf Sea Clinic is held on Sundays at 16.00-18.00 and is a more advanced clinic looking to get people who can already windsurf, out on the sea and more advanced techniques such as carve gybes and waterstarting.
