Wakeboarding in Brighton Lagoon2018-02-10T12:32:04+00:00 Brightons wake park You’ve arrived in the incredible city of Brighton and have heard that it has its own wake park. You are keen to give it a go but don’t know where it is or what set up they have. The wake park is located at the West end of Hove. Right on the seafront and next to the famous millionaires row with residents such as Adele, David Walliams, Fatboy Slim and Zoe Ball. It is a fifteen minute taxi ride from Brighton central train station or a 5 minute trip in a taxi from Hove (or Portslade) station. It is also easily accessible by bus as it is right on the seafront so all buses that do the trip along the coast will pass the wake park. To ensure you get a ride on the cable it is very important to book in advanced. During the busy summer months (and even in the winter) the cable books out quite quickly with groups, lessons and the regular crew of local riders. Simply call Lagoon Watersports in Hove (01273 424842) and they will talk you through the booking process and get you on the right session for your level of riding. How to go about wakeboarding in Brighton If you are new to the sport you will need to book a learn to wakeboard course or a private session. If you have used a wakeboard cable or ridden behind a boat before you can book straight onto a ride sessions. There are three separate System 2.0 cables to choose from. One is called the Tech cable which has a flat box and a transfer box on it. There is also the Air cable which is in the deepest part of the lagoon and is the best and safest cable for pulling aerials. It also has an incline ramp and an A-frame. The third cable is simply called cable 3 and is mainly used for lessons but it does have a small flat box on it. So if you are very new to rails or want to try them for the first time this is the cable for you. There is not only wakeboarding available at Hove Lagoon. There is an extensive range of other activities including windsurfing, sailing, stand up paddleboarding and kayaking. There is also a clubhouse with changing facilities, hot showers and a cafe/bar area. And don’t forget that everything is provided for your time on the water so all you need to bring with you is swimwear and a towel.
